FAQ
IIIT Hyderabad FAQs
What is the annual B.Tech tuition fee at IIIT Hyderabad for 2026-27?
Per IIIT Hyderabad's publicly disclosed fee tiers, annual tuition for Merit-route (UGEE and JEE Main) B.Tech students sits around ₹4-5 lakh per year. DASA and NRI quota tuition is approximately 2.5x higher. Hostel and mess charges of ~₹1.2-1.5 lakh per year are collected separately, and all UG students live on campus. Verify exact 2026-27 numbers on the iiit.ac.in fee circular before application.
Which B.Tech programme costs more at IIIT Hyderabad — the 4-year or the 5-year Dual Degree?
Tuition per year is the same across the 4-year B.Tech (CSE, ECE) and the 5-year Dual Degree tracks (CSE+MS, ECE+MS, CND, CLD, CSD). Dual Degree students pay an additional year of tuition plus hostel and mess fees, so total programme cost is roughly 25% higher — but graduates exit with an MS-by-Research plus the B.Tech, often positioning them for PhD admissions abroad.
Does IIIT Hyderabad offer scholarships or financial aid for B.Tech students?
Yes. IIIT Hyderabad runs merit-cum-need scholarships funded through its endowment and corporate partners, covering partial to full tuition for economically weaker candidates with strong academics. The institute also offers teaching and research assistantship stipends for Dual-Degree students in their final two years, plus alumni-endowed scholarships for female candidates and specific research areas.
Which entrance exams are accepted at IIIT Hyderabad for B.Tech 2026-27?
IIIT Hyderabad admits B.Tech and Dual-Degree students through five channels: UGEE (institute's own CBT entrance, April-May 2026) for Dual Degrees; JEE Main for the 4-year B.Tech CSE and ECE; IIIT-H Special Category (SPEC) for students with research aptitude; Olympiad Category (OCSC) for KVPY/Math/Physics/Chemistry/Informatics medalists; and DASA for international (foreign-national/OCI/PIO) candidates.
What is the UGEE exam pattern at IIIT Hyderabad?
UGEE (Undergraduate Engineering Entrance Examination) is a 2-stage computer-based test: SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English, followed by a REAT (Research Aptitude Test) in Mathematics and Analytical Reasoning for shortlisted candidates. The test is held in April-May at selected centres across India; admission is based on combined SAT+REAT score plus Class 12 aggregate.
What are the placement statistics at IIIT Hyderabad?
Placements 2024-25 per institute disclosure: highest international offer above $500,000 (Jane Street, D.E. Shaw), domestic highest ₹1 crore+ from Google, Microsoft and Adobe, average package around ₹30-35 LPA, median around ₹25-28 LPA and placement rate consistently above 95%. Top recruiters include Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Meta, Apple, Oracle, Qualcomm, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Jane Street, Graviton, Optiver, D.E. Shaw and Uber.
What B.Tech programmes are offered at IIIT Hyderabad?

The institute does NOT offer Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering.
