IEM Kolkata operates a partial-residential campus model — 65-70% of BTech students from outside Kolkata stay in hostels (10 blocks: 6 boys, 4 girls) accommodating ~3,200 students. AC twin-sharing rooms cost INR 1.10 lakh per academic year (rent + amenities + electricity); non-AC twin-sharing INR 65,000-85,000; single-occupancy AC (limited, mostly final-year) INR 1.55 lakh/year. Mess fee separate at INR 50,000-58,000/year covering 4 daily meals. Mess offers Bengali authentic, North Indian, South Indian, Continental and a separate Jain/vegetarian counter. Each room has cot, study desk, wardrobe, attached bathroom (in newer blocks), 100 Mbps Wi-Fi and AC backup. Common amenities: AC reading rooms, indoor sports halls (TT, carrom), gym, basketball court, cricket ground, swimming pool (limited), tuck shops, ATMs and 24x7 medical room. Curfew: 10:30 PM for boys, 9:30 PM for girls. Day-scholar option is popular among Kolkata-based students.
