What is the B.Tech fee at HITS Chennai for 2026?
HITS Chennai B.Tech tuition fees for the 2026-27 session range roughly from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹4 lakh per year depending on the programme. Computer Science and its AI/Data Science/Cybersecurity specialisations sit at the upper end, while core engineering branches like Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Aeronautical and Automobile are in the ₹2.5-3 lakh band. Add a one-time admission fee and annual academic/examination charges of around ₹20,000-30,000, plus hostel and mess fees of ₹1.2-1.8 lakh per year if opted.
Are scholarships available to reduce HITS Chennai tuition?
Yes — HITS runs a structured scholarship matrix. State-board rank 1 candidates receive a 100% tuition waiver. HITSEEE Top 10 ranks get 75%, Top 20 receive 50% and Top 50 receive 25% waivers. Class 12 aggregates of 90%+ unlock graded waivers of 10-50%. NCC, sports, defence and sibling quotas offer further concessions. Waivers apply to tuition only and are renewable each year subject to maintaining a minimum CGPA (typically 7.5 for full waivers).
What is the hostel fee at HITS Chennai?
On-campus hostel and mess at HITS Chennai costs approximately ₹1.2 lakh to ₹1.8 lakh per academic year depending on room type (triple-sharing vs double-sharing vs single AC). The fee is billed separately from tuition after the hostel block is allotted at reporting. A refundable caution deposit of around ₹10,000 is collected at the first-year intake. Mess charges are included in the bundled rate; laundry and Wi-Fi are on-campus amenities.
How do I apply to HITS Chennai B.Tech through HITSEEE?
Apply online at the HITS admissions portal when HITSEEE registration opens (usually December-January). Pay the ~₹950 application fee, choose a test slot between January and May, and sit the 2-hour online proctored test covering Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with an English/aptitude section. Shortlisted candidates are called for branch-choice counselling in a rank-wise slot system. JEE Main scorers and TN Diploma lateral-entry candidates can apply on parallel tracks without taking HITSEEE.
What is the eligibility for HITS Chennai B.Tech admission?
Candidates must have passed (or be appearing in) the 10+2 examination from a recognised board with Physics, Mathematics and one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or Computer Science as the fourth subject.
