Overview
About Dr. D. Y. Patil School of Design (Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth)
Dr. D. Y. Patil School of Design is a design college in Pune, Maharashtra. It is affiliated to Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth. Dr. D. Y. Patil School of Design offers 12 programmes, 9 at undergraduate level and 2 at postgraduate level. These include Bachelor of Design (B.Des), B.Des in Fashion Design and Communication, B.Des in Interior Spatial and Furniture Design, B.Des in Communication Design and B.Des in Ui/Ux Design, among others. The stated sanctioned intake across these programmes totals 570 seats. Official 2026 pages identify this as Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth's constituent School of Design at Tathawade, Pune, established in 2022. The current director is Prof. (Dr.) Milind Dhobley; the 2024 brochure names Dr. Kumar Venkataraman, which is historical. The 2024 official brochure lists 20 named studios/labs and the current faculty page lists 25 named team members, but it does not provide a formal category-wise faculty total, PhD count, or student-faculty ratio. No specific industry or craft-cluster partner was explicitly named in the reviewed official sources. Official pages identify the school as a flagship institute of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, a deemed-to-be university. The school is therefore not assigned an established year. The 2026-27 AICTE EoA names Dr. D. Y. The school advertises B.Des intake of 150 seats and B.Sc. (Hons.) intake of 120 seats for its 2026 admissions page, but those figures are not included as campus facts because they are programme intake claims rather than campus-profile metrics. IIT Bombay's UCEED 2026 page lists DPU Dr. D. Y. Patil School of Design, Pune among result-sharing institutes; it is not part of the UCEED joint admission process.
