02 · THE PATTERN
How long VTU gave students to apply
This chart is the entire argument for the notification opt-in: the window has swung from three days to eighteen, and mid-cycle extensions happened more than once.
2026–27 is not yet issued. Recent cycles range from five days to eighteen — with a mid-cycle extension happening more than once.
The date that matters first is the student application deadline. College verification, merit-list generation and hard-copy submission happen later — they are not extra time for you to apply.
In 2022–23, circular 4448 extended a three-day window to ten. In 2024–25, circular 2782 extended an eight-day window to eighteen after requests from students, parents and colleges. The 2025-26 notice gave five days and was never extended.
The one other page tracking these circulars (vturesource.com) has been frozen since November 2023 and still displays 2023-24 dates as current. This ledger is maintained.
03 · WHAT CHANGED OVER TIME
Fees and eligibility move by cycle
The 2020 regulation is the standing framework — but the annual invitation controls the live application, and both fees and eligibility language have moved.
Fees: the 2021-22 invitation listed ₹500 to apply and ₹5,000 after recommendation. By 2024-25 and 2025-26 the published amounts were ₹600 and ₹7,500 — ₹8,100 total.
Eligibility: the founding regulation describes eligible backlog students ranked below all-clear students, while recent annual notices required all first-year courses to be passed for that cycle, reflecting the Executive Council's December 2022 resolution.
