HITS Chennai admits BTech students through TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions — 65% Tamil Nadu State Quota), JEE Main (15% All India), HITSEEE (Hindustan Institute of Technology Entrance Examination — internal entrance, 10%), and Management/Institutional Quota (10%). For 2024, TNEA cutoffs (cutoff = mark out of 200): CSE closed at 188.5/200 General; IT 184.5; ECE 178.5; EEE 168.0; Mechanical 158.5; Civil 148.5; Aerospace 175.0; Automobile 168.0. JEE Main cutoff equivalent: 88-92 percentile General for CSE, 82 for ECE, 65-72 for Mechanical and Civil. HITSEEE cutoff: CSE 75+, ECE 70+, Mechanical 60+. Total tuition fee 2026-27: INR 2.45 lakh per year for CSE/IT/Aerospace, INR 2.15 lakh for ECE/EE, INR 1.85 lakh for Mechanical/Civil/Automobile. Hostel + mess add INR 1.20-1.85 lakh annually. Management Quota: separate application + INR 5,000 application fee + interview + sponsor demand draft + total program fee INR 14-16 lakh. NRI quota requires USD 6,000-8,000 annual tuition.
