Research at BITS Pilani 2026

BITS Pilani runs research across every major engineering and applied science discipline with particular strengths in CSE, ECE, EEE, Pharmacy and Biological Sciences. The institute hosts the BITS Pilani PIE Centre (Innovation and Incubation), Centre for Renewable Energy, Centre for VLSI Design, Pharmacy research centres and many discipline-specific centres. The institute files 50+ patents annually with publications in Nature, Science, IEEE Transactions, ACM, Springer, Elsevier and ACS venues. Major funding from DST, AICTE, MeitY, DBT, ISRO, DRDO and several international agencies. Industry partnerships are strong — BITS Pilani's Practice School programme creates dedicated 8-month internships with hundreds of partner companies, generating research and recruitment alignment. Industry partners include Microsoft, Google, Adobe, Robert Bosch, Texas Instruments, Tata Group, Reliance, Cisco, Intel, NVIDIA, Pharma majors and many deep-tech startups. International collaborations span MIT, Stanford, ETH Zurich, Cambridge, Oxford, several US, UK, German, Australian, Singaporean and Japanese universities.
