Research at UVCE spans VLSI and microelectronics, AI-ML, Data Science, Cyber Security, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil and Structural Engineering, Mining Engineering, Architecture and Sustainable Design. The institute hosts research centres aligned with its 100+ year heritage in civil, mechanical, electrical and structural engineering disciplines. Funded projects come from DST, AICTE RPS, MeitY, DRDO, ISRO, BHEL, NTPC, Karnataka State Government and the Karnataka State Council. Faculty publish in IEEE, Springer, Elsevier, ASCE and Scopus-indexed journals. Patents include themes around energy-efficient VLSI, smart grids, structural dynamics, agritech sensors and intelligent transportation. Industry-academia partnerships include Cisco, Texas Instruments, Bosch, Wipro, Siemens, Ansys, Larsen and Toubro, Tata Group, BHEL, NTPC and core engineering firms. International MoUs with universities in the UK, Germany, Australia and Singapore support student exchange and joint research, often with heritage-engineering and infrastructure focus.
