NIT Karnataka Surathkal consistently ranks among the top 17 in NIRF Engineering. Research spans every major engineering and applied science discipline. The institute hosts the Centre for Marine Engineering (uniquely positioned given the coastal location), Centre for Excellence in Civil Engineering, Centre for Excellence in Mining and Materials, Innovation and Incubation Centre and many discipline-specific centres.
