NIT Silchar consistently ranks among the top 50 in NIRF Engineering. Research spans every major engineering and applied science discipline with strengths in Renewable Energy, Sustainability, AI-ML and Materials Science (uniquely strong given Northeast ecological positioning). The institute hosts research centres for Renewable Energy, Sustainable Engineering, AI-ML and Innovation. The institute files 50+ patents annually with publications in IEEE Transactions, ACM, Springer, Elsevier and ACS venues. Major funding from DST, AICTE, MeitY, DBT, ISRO, DRDO, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Ministry of DoNER (Northeast development), Assam State Council and several international agencies.
