Research at NIT AP South 2026

NIT Andhra Pradesh drives focused research across AI/ML, IoT, smart cities, sustainable energy, biotechnology, signal processing, marine engineering (East coast advantage), and structural engineering for cyclone-prone regions. The institute houses Centre of Excellence in AI and Robotics, the Centre for Renewable Energy, the IoT and Smart City Lab, and the Centre for Cyber Security. Faculty publish 110-130 SCI/Scopus papers annually with research grants from DST, MeitY, DRDO, ISRO, SERB, AP State Council on Science and Technology and various private industry collaborations totaling INR 8-12 crore at any given time. The institute has filed 22+ patents across image processing, NLP, IoT systems and renewable energy. Active partnerships: Andhra Pradesh Power Corporation, NHPC, Reliance Industries (East coast operations), ISRO, DRDO, NTPC and BSNL. PhD intake is 18-22 scholars annually. Operates 3 international student exchange agreements (NUS, KAIST, NTU Taipei).
