Jadavpur University spans two campuses — the historic Jadavpur main campus (58 acres) in south Kolkata and the Salt Lake campus (25 acres) in north Kolkata. Branch-specific facilities span Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgical and Material Engineering, Mining Engineering, Power Engineering, Architecture, Construction Engineering, Pharmaceutical Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and many discipline-specific centres including the Centre for Excellence in Materials Engineering, Centre for Advanced Computing, Centre for Photonics, School of Energy Studies, School of Bioscience and Engineering. The Central Library holds 5,00,000+ volumes with comprehensive IEEE, Springer, Elsevier, ASCE, ASME and Wiley subscriptions. Sports facilities include cricket and football grounds, basketball and volleyball courts, athletics track, indoor sports complex and gymnasium. Transport: BMTC-equivalent Kolkata bus connectivity is excellent — JU is on multiple bus routes; the Jadavpur railway station is a short walk from the main gate.
