Research at IIITDM Jabalpur 2026

IIITDM Jabalpur ranks among India top design-driven engineering institutes. Active research thrust areas include AI and machine learning, computer vision, IoT and edge computing, smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0, design science, networking and cybersecurity, signal processing, robotics and natural language processing for Indian languages. The institute houses Centre of Excellence in AI and Robotics (sponsored by MeitY), the Centre for Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0, the Design Innovation Centre, the Centre for IoT and Cyber-Physical Systems, the Cyber Security Research Centre and the Mechatronics Research Hub. Faculty publish 240-280 SCI/Scopus papers annually with research grants from DST, MeitY, DRDO, ISRO and SERB totaling INR 18-22 crore at any given time. The institute has filed 75+ patents across image processing, NLP, smart manufacturing systems and design science and licensed 12 to industry. Active industry-academia partnerships include collaborations with Samsung Bangalore, Microsoft Research India, Adobe Research, Bosch, Honeywell, Tata Steel, Hyundai and BSNL. PhD intake is 50-60 scholars annually, with monthly fellowship of INR 31,000-35,000 + HRA. The institute operates 5 international student exchange agreements (Carnegie Mellon, NUS, KAIST, ETH Zurich, RWTH Aachen).
