Research at RVCE spans foundational engineering and applied science. Active groups work on VLSI and microelectronics, MEMS and sensors, Cyber Security and Privacy, Renewable Energy and Smart Grids, Computational Genomics, Aerospace Structures, and AI-ML for Healthcare. The institute files dozens of patents annually with recent themes around IoT-based agritech sensors, low-cost ECG hardware, embedded VLSI designs and energy-efficient grid algorithms. Funded projects come from DST, AICTE RPS, MeitY, ISRO RESPOND, DRDO and the Karnataka State Science and Technology Council. Industry-academia partnerships are anchored by Texas Instruments (RVCE-TI Innovation Lab), Cisco (Networking Academy), Bosch, Wipro, Siemens, Ansys, MathWorks and Robert Bosch Engineering. Faculty publications appear regularly in IEEE Transactions, Springer journals and Scopus-indexed venues, with international collaborations through MoUs with the University of Houston, Purdue University and the University of Stuttgart.
