NIT Meghalaya ranks among the top 100 in NIRF Engineering. Research spans every major engineering and applied science discipline with strengths in Renewable Energy, Sustainable Engineering, Materials Science and AI-ML (uniquely positioned given Northeast ecological setting). The institute hosts research centres for Renewable Energy and Innovation. The institute files 30+ patents annually with publications in IEEE Transactions, Springer, Elsevier and ACS venues. Major funding from DST, AICTE, MeitY, DBT, ISRO, DRDO, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Ministry of DoNER (Northeast development), Meghalaya State Council and several international agencies.
