NIT Meghalaya runs an extensive on-campus hostel system on its 320-acre Bijni Complex campus near Shillong. First-year B.Tech students typically get triple-occupancy rooms with double rooms from the second year by seniority. Annual hostel and mess fees for 2025-26 are heavily subsidised — typically ₹35,000-55,000 per academic year inclusive of mess. Mess service includes vegetarian, non-vegetarian and Jain options across hostels with student-elected mess secretaries; menus combine North Indian, Bengali, North-Eastern (Khasi cuisine), South Indian rotations. Wi-Fi, hot-water geysers, gymnasium access, study lounges and CCTV are standard. The Shillong climate is cool to cold (5-15°C December-February).
