IIT (ISM) Dhanbad's 393-acre Sardar Patel Nagar campus in Dhanbad, Jharkhand combines heritage British-era buildings (the institute traces back to Indian School of Mines, 1926) with modern academic and residential blocks. Branch-specific facilities span Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mineral Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geophysical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and the Indian School of Mines Centre for Mineral Engineering, Centre for Petroleum Engineering, Centre for Mining and Mineral Sciences and many discipline-specific centres.
