FAQ
BCET FAQs
When was BCET Bengaluru established and who runs it?
Bangalore College of Engineering and Technology (BCET) was established in the year 2000 by the Bangalore Educational Trust (BET), a charitable educational trust that has promoted learning across Engineering & Technology, Nursing and general Education since its inception. BCET functions as the engineering college of the BET group and operates under the trust's governance and academic framework, with Dr. Gopalaiah currently serving as the Principal of the institution.
Where exactly is BCET located in Bengaluru?
BCET is located directly opposite the Heelalige Railway Station on the Hosur Road at Chandapura, in the Anekal taluk of Bengaluru Urban District, with the postal pincode 560081. The campus sits on an approximately 26.01-acre plot along the Electronic City - Hosur Road industrial and IT corridor, one of the densest concentrations of software, electronics and manufacturing recruiters in southern India, with direct rail and road connectivity to the rest of Bengaluru and to Hosur and Chennai.
Is BCET affiliated to VTU and what are its accreditations?
Yes. BCET is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. It is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and also carries National Board of Accreditation (NBA) accreditation at the B.E. level. Together these approvals confirm BCET's standing as a mainstream, quality-benchmarked private engineering college in the Bengaluru Urban district and ensure wide degree recognition.
What B.E. and PG programmes does BCET offer?
At the undergraduate level BCET currently offers five B.E. branches: Computer Science and Engineering; Information Science and Engineering; Electronics and Communication Engineering; Electrical and Electronics Engineering; and Computer Science and Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Historically it has also offered Mechanical and Civil Engineering under the VTU umbrella. At the postgraduate level BCET runs a Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme with 60 sanctioned seats, alongside VTU-aligned research programmes.
How do I apply for B.E. admission at BCET?
BCET admits B.E. students through three main routes. Karnataka-state candidates apply through the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) conducted by the KEA and select BCET during KEA counselling. All-India and private-quota merit candidates apply through the COMEDK Under Graduate Entrance Test (UGET) and choose BCET during COMEDK counselling. Management and NRI seats are admitted under AICTE and institutional norms. Lateral entry to the second year of B.E. is through the Karnataka Diploma CET (DCET) for diploma holders.
What is the eligibility for BCET's B.E. programmes?
For B.E. admission at BCET, candidates must have passed the 10+2 (PUC-II) examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, and any one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics as the third subject. The minimum aggregate required is 45 percent (40 percent for Karnataka reserved categories). For the CSE (AI & ML) specialisation, candidates need an adequate mathematics and computing foundation as per VTU B.E. regulations. Lateral entry requires a Karnataka state diploma in an allied engineering branch plus DCET qualification.
What is the placement record at BCET?
BCET runs a dedicated Training and Placement Department that conducts regular recruitment drives and industry interaction programmes. Recent placement bands report a highest package in the order of approximately Rs 18 LPA, with an average placement package around Rs 6 LPA. Top recruiters include Accenture, Amazon, Airtel, Bosch and Flipkart, among other IT, electronics and consumer-brand companies from the Bengaluru ecosystem that visit BCET every placement cycle for core software, hardware, business and support roles.
What hostel and residential facilities does BCET offer?
BCET has structured residential infrastructure on its Hosur Road campus. Boys' hostels are organised in two blocks named Bhaskara and Visveshwara, while the girls' hostel is named Lilavati. The girls' block offers single and double-seater rooms with attached bathrooms, and the hostels provide 24-hour internet connectivity for pre-final and final-year students along with a vegetarian meal plan. Resident wardens supervise safety and discipline across all blocks, with the campus itself placed directly opposite Heelalige Railway Station for convenient travel.
