Research at NIT Calicut 2026

NIT Calicut consistently ranks among the top 25 in NIRF Engineering. Research spans every major engineering and applied science discipline. The institute hosts the Centre for Excellence in Sustainable Construction, Centre for Materials Engineering, Innovation and Incubation Centre, Centre for Excellence in Renewable Energy and many discipline-specific centres. The institute files 50+ patents annually with publications in IEEE Transactions, ACM, Springer, Elsevier and ACS venues. Major funding from DST, AICTE, MeitY, DBT, ISRO, DRDO, Ministry of Earth Sciences (given Kerala's coastal proximity), Ministry of Power and several international agencies. Industry partnerships span Robert Bosch, Texas Instruments, Tata Group, Reliance, Tata Motors, Saint-Gobain, Cisco, Microsoft, Google and many deep-tech startups. International collaborations span universities in the US, the UK, Germany, Australia, Singapore and the Middle East.
