NIT Calicut alumni include senior leaders at Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, McKinsey, Tata Group, Reliance, L&T, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Wipro and many Indian and global corporations. Notable alumni include senior leadership at ISRO, DRDO, BHEL, Indian Oil and several PSUs. The institute's heritage as Regional Engineering College Calicut (1961) gives it 60+ years of alumni — among the deepest engineering alumni networks in Kerala and South India. The NIT Calicut Alumni Association runs strong chapters in Calicut, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Pune, the Bay Area, Boston, New York, London, Singapore, Dubai and the Gulf region (uniquely strong given Kerala's emigration patterns). Annual reunions and the NITC Alumni Trust supporting scholarships, research initiatives and the NITC Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre are central.
