Mahindra University drives focused research across AI/ML, autonomous vehicles, IoT, smart cities, computational biology, sustainable energy, materials science and aerospace systems. The institute houses the Centre for Excellence in AI/ML (in collaboration with Mahindra Tech), the Centre for Sustainable Mobility (Mahindra Auto + Susten partnership), the Centre for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, the Centre for Robotics and Drones, the Bahadurpally IoT Lab and the Centre for Cyber Security. Faculty publish 180-220 SCI/Scopus papers annually with research grants from DST, AICTE, DRDO, ISRO, DBT, MEITY, Mahindra Group R&D and various private industry collaborations totaling INR 18-22 crore in any given fiscal year. The institute has filed 65+ patents in autonomous systems, IoT, biomedical devices, drone tech and renewable energy. Active industry-academia partnerships include Mahindra Auto, Mahindra Tech, Mahindra Susten, Mahindra Defence, Microsoft Research India, Adobe Research, Cyient, ISRO, DRDO, BARC and TIFR Hyderabad. The university operates 12 international research collaborations including Ecole Centrale Paris, Ecole Centrale Lyon, Ecole Centrale Lille, Ecole Centrale Marseille (the founding partnership), MIT USA, Stanford, NTU Singapore, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IISc Bangalore and Purdue.
