IGDTUW drives focused research across AI/ML, IoT, smart cities, sustainable energy, biotechnology, cyber security, signal processing and human-computer interaction with women-in-tech focus. The institute houses the Centre for Excellence in AI/ML (sponsored by MeitY), the Centre for Cyber Security (in collaboration with NCIIPC), the IoT and Embedded Systems Lab, and the Centre for Bio-informatics and Computational Biology. Faculty publish 200-240 SCI/Scopus papers annually with research grants from DST, AICTE, MEITY, DRDO, BARC, ISRO, Delhi Government and various private industry collaborations totaling INR 12-16 crore. The institute has filed 55+ patents in AI/ML, biomedical devices, IoT systems and cyber security, with 8 commercialised. Active partnerships: Microsoft Research India, IBM, Adobe Research, Cognizant, ISRO, DRDO and TIFR. Operates 6 international collaborations (NTU Singapore, Purdue, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, Carnegie Mellon, plus Women-in-Tech partnerships with Stanford and MIT).
