Research at GITAM 2026 — CollegeAndFees

GITAM drives focused research across IoT, smart cities, AI/ML, marine engineering (Visakhapatnam coastal advantage), petroleum engineering, biotechnology, computational biology, sustainable energy and structural engineering. The institute houses the Centre for Marine Robotics, the Andhra Pradesh State Drone Research Centre, the Centre for Excellence in IoT and Cyber-Physical Systems, the Solar Energy Research Lab, the Biomedical Devices Innovation Lab, and the Centre for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. Faculty publish 350-400 SCI/Scopus papers annually with research grants from DST, AICTE, DBT, ISRO, BARC, DRDO, MEITY, AP State Council on Science and Technology and various private industry collaborations totaling INR 22-28 crore in any given fiscal year. The institute has filed 120+ patents in IoT, biomedical devices, marine systems, drone tech and renewable energy, with 18 commercialised. Active industry-academia partnerships include Microsoft Research India, IBM, Cognizant, Tata Consultancy Services, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Cyient, GE Energy, ISRO, DRDO, Hyundai and Reliance. The university operates 8 international collaborations (Purdue, NTU Singapore, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IISc Bangalore, Stanford, ETH Zurich, Tokyo Tech).
