Thiagarajar College of Engineering Madurai operates a fully residential campus model — 90%+ of BTech students live on-campus across 8 hostel blocks (5 boys, 3 girls) accommodating ~3,500 students. Boys hostels: Aryabhatta, Ramanujan, Bhaskara, Vivekananda, Tagore. Girls hostels: Sarojini, Indira, Parameswari (named after Tamil cultural figures). AC twin-sharing rooms cost INR 1.20 lakh per academic year (rent + amenities + electricity); non-AC twin-sharing INR 70,000-85,000; single-occupancy AC (limited, mostly final-year and PhD scholars) INR 1.65 lakh/year. Mess fee separate at INR 50,000-58,000/year covering 4 daily meals. Mess offers Tamil authentic, North Indian, South Indian, Continental and a separate Jain/vegetarian counter. Each room has cot, study desk, wardrobe, attached bathroom (in newer blocks), 100 Mbps Wi-Fi and AC backup. Common amenities: AC reading rooms, indoor sports halls, gym, basketball court, cricket ground, swimming pool, tuck shops, ATMs and 24x7 medical room. Curfew: 10:30 PM for boys, 9:30 PM for girls.
