Thapar runs an extensive on-campus hostel system on the 250-acre Patiala campus. First-year B.E./B.Tech students are typically allocated double-occupancy rooms with single rooms available from the second year by seniority. Annual hostel and mess fees for 2025-26 broadly fall in the ₹1,30,000-1,80,000 range inclusive of mess. Mess service includes vegetarian, non-vegetarian and Jain options across multiple mess centres with student-elected mess secretaries; menus combine North Indian, Punjabi, South Indian and Continental rotations. Wi-Fi, hot-water geysers, gymnasium access, study lounges, common rooms with TV, washing machines and CCTV-monitored entries are standard.
