Sharda University drives focused research across IoT, smart cities, AI/ML, sustainable energy, biotechnology, computational biology, cyber security, automotive engineering and structural engineering. The institute houses the Centre for Excellence in AI/ML (sponsored by MeitY), the Centre for Bio-informatics and Computational Biology, the Centre for Cyber Security, the IoT and Embedded Systems Lab, the Centre for Sustainable Mobility and the Bio-Research Innovation Centre. Faculty publish 220-260 SCI/Scopus papers annually with research grants from DST, AICTE, DBT, ISRO, BARC, MEITY, UPCST and various private industry collaborations totaling INR 14-18 crore in any given fiscal year. The institute has filed 65+ patents in AI/ML, biomedical devices, IoT systems and cyber security, with 8 commercialised. Active industry-academia partnerships include Microsoft Research India, IBM, Adobe Research, Cognizant, Tata Consultancy Services, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, ISRO, DRDO and TIFR. The university operates 12 international research collaborations (Purdue, NTU Singapore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IISc Bangalore, plus partnerships with universities in Africa and Central Asia given international student diversity).
