Research at BMSIT covers AI-ML and Data Science, VLSI and Embedded Systems, Cyber Security, Power Electronics, Robotics, Industrial IoT, Mechatronics and Civil Infrastructure. Funded projects come from DST, AICTE RPS, MeitY, DRDO and the Karnataka State Science and Technology Council. Faculty publish in IEEE, Springer, Elsevier and Scopus-indexed journals with steady year-on-year output. Recent patents include themes around energy-efficient VLSI, edge AI for healthcare, agritech sensors and intelligent transportation. Industry-academia partnerships include Cisco (Networking Academy), IBM, Microsoft, AWS, Bosch and Robert Bosch Engineering. The institute participates in the Atal Innovation Mission and Atal Tinkering Lab ecosystem. International MoUs with select universities in Asia and Europe support student exchange and joint research projects. The BMS Educational Trust's broader research environment supports cross-institute collaboration with BMSCE, BMS Pharmacy and BMS Architecture.
